EDITOR'S NOTES

This enchanting design finds its inspiration in the artfully carved wooden animals that have graced the halls of the Liberty Tudor store since 1924. Lions, elephants, monkeys, owls and pelicans coexist within a magical jungle of scrolling foliage and ethereal flowers. Created in the studio with hand-painted inky washes of gouache and coloured pencils, Valerie also references Walter Crane’s vivid Arts & Crafts book illustrations. This print is part of the second chapter of this collection, Collaboration, which reflects the current design team’s celebration of the techniques and styles of their predecessors - bridging the gap between past and present.
